Branching out in IT
This year 2016 marks some changes on the job front. Honestly, after 14 years at Sprint, I never thought in my wildest dreams I would be included in a round of corporate layoffs, but it happened, way back in 2009, then another layoff in 2014. I cherish those days at Sprint. I worked with good people. So I had the privilege to do contract work for a while up until Jan 2016. On the 25th of January, I will be working at Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance as a full time permanent employee as a Business Systems Analyst. It will be a little different look and feel from traditional software development work I have done for the last 34 years. I am looking forward to the opportunities that await me at Blue Cross. The opportunity to meet new people and be part of a new work culture should be fun. I only hope I will be able to use my headphones at my desk. My music and my work go hand in hand...always!

Getting back in the Blog saddle
I have taken what looks to be a very long sabbatical from writing blog entries. However, I hope to get back into it very soon. I am enjoying writing a little more now, and since my interests are not just career related, I will be writing more about consumer electronics and sharing many news articles that I have stumbled across that reference technological topics and their impact on society. The basis for this was a college level class I took called, "Impact of Engineering Technology on Society". That class was really enjoyable as it looked at engineering technology from the very simple (ie. cruise controls in automobiles) to the very complex (aircraft manufacturing design).

Kim Komando is America's Digital guru. Her website offers advice on many different topics regarding computers, electronics, well.....virtually any digital device for that matter. Best of all, she offers:

Here is the best part--- she explains everything in plain English, not technical jargon. So if you are needing information on any electronic digital device, be sure and check Kim's website before purchasing. She also answers many of your questions about so many kinds of electronics. Her radio show is heard on over 400 radio stations each week and she also is a columnist for USAToday's technology section. This eBook for the Kindle is a great biography of the composer's life. Not bad for 10 bucks.

CD-Rachmaninoff plays Rachmaninoff
The recordings are good audio quality from the original tapes, considering that these recordings were made in the late 20's early 30's.
